However, if you are an intermediate fishermen in need of a more developed fishing kayak, then look no further. The Perception Pescador Pro 12 Kayak’s high quality and attention to fishing-specific features may be worth the money. This kayak is perfect for fishing on calm, flat waters, like lakes or slow rivers. Keep reading to find out the handy features of the Perception Pescador Pro 12 Kayak.
The Perception Pescador Pro 12 Kayak comes in an array of dark camouflage colors, including red, green, and blue.
This kayak has a couple handy features that make your kayak experience that much more enjoyable. Firstly, it has bow and stern carrying handles that make transporting the kayak in and out of the water easier. It also has a molded in cup holder, so you can enjoy a beverage on your journey as well.
The Perception Pescador Pro 12 Kayak is a well constructed, robust kayak that can withstand the wear and tear of the outdoors. Its high quality construction is sure to last for years to come. It is made of a durable, polyethylene material. It also has a skid plate that protects the keel of the kayak. A skid plate is beneficial in sustaining the kayak’s life span, for the keel of the kayak often experiences the most damage as it is dragged along gravelly and rocky shores.
In addition to practicality, the Perception Pescador Pro 12 Kayak is designed with comfort in mind. The seat is comfortable and adjustable. Better yet, it can be arranged in two different positions of the boat to optimize legroom and storage availability. There are also adjustable foot rests to ensure your comfort, regardless of your height. Foot braces also provide proper paddling posture. Good posture while kayaking will not only provide you with more support and comfort, but will also make paddling easier and a good body position will ensure you use your energy efficiently.
The Perception Pescador Pro 12 Kayak provides a plentiful amount of storage for fishing gear. There is a stern tankwell with a bungee system, as well as a bow tankwell with a mesh cover. Both the bungee system and the mesh cover ensure that your gears stays secure as you kayak.
However, if by chance you capsize, your gear may get wet, for these compartments are not waterproof. For your smaller, water sensitive items, such as cellphone or keys, there is a handy center storage compartment. There is even additional storage for your tackle box. With multiple storage options, this kayak gives you the ability to bring enough gear for a long day out on the water.
The Perception Pescador Pro 12 Kayak has features that make it function particularly well as a fishing kayak. It has dual molded-in rod holders. These holders are set behind the seat and do not get in the way while paddling, making it easy to paddle for long distances without the rods being a bother. When you are ready to stop paddling and start fishing, you can place you paddle securely in the paddle park, which allows for hands free fishing without the worry of losing your paddle.
I have very little complaints when it comes to this kayak. Though no kayak is perfect, the Perception Pescador Pro 12 Kayak is nearly as good as you can get. One thing I will advise you of ahead of time, is that this kayak is not stable enough to stand up in, unless you have very good balance and agility. I have tried before, with no success, to stand while I fish in this kayak. That being said, most hard shell kayaks do require some sort of balancing on the water and are generally not stable enough to stand up in. Hence, the Perception Pescador Pro 12 Kayak is not alone in regards to this issue. If you would prefer to stand up while you fish, but still want to be out on the water, I would recommend looking into a sturdy inflatable kayak or a paddle board.
The main down side to the Perception Pescador Pro 12 Kayak is that the storage wells tend to pool with water due to small, unplugged holes. This happens especially in the tackle box storage. Though much outdoor and fishing gear can stand being exposed to a little water, it is a bother having to dry it all off.
While the Perception Pescador Pro 12 Kayak does not come with a rudder or skeg, it does seem to have the room and design to attach a skeg if you desire to. In my experience, it tracks well without a skeg, but if you want extra support and maneuverability, you may want to consider adding one.
Overall, the Perception Pescador Pro 12 Kayak is a high quality fishing kayak that performs well on flat waters. Its plethora of fishing-oriented features, including rod holders and storage, are sure to satisfy even the most experienced of fishermen. If you have some experience with fishing and kayaking, and are looking to invest in a high quality fishing kayak with some nice added features, then the Perception Pescador Pro 12 Kayak may just be what you are looking for.
